|Can anyone tell me why I should be so hype about Notre Dame (college ftball)?|
Brady Quinn....Brady Quinn....Brady Quinn....If I hear the kid's name again, I'm going to scream. I mean, I just think that right now, it's way too early to try and say that Notre Dame might win the National Championship. Not only that, but most good teams have taken a hit as far as players, between last year and this year. It's ridiculous. I'm not hearing all this hype...Notre Dame was good once, but have been garbage for the longest. I think they're going nowhere...and fast. What do you guys think?
They are truly playing some ridiculously easy games. The BCS is such crap....I can't stand it.
Fiesta Bowl meltdown aside, the Irish were a very good team last year. This year they return almost everyone from an offense that could rack up Playstation-like scores. Their Achilles heel last year was their defense. They got down to MSU by 21 and let Drew Stanton throw all over them, gave up that huge pass against USC on 4th and 9, and got torched by OSU a couple of times. With another year of experience under their belts, I would expect them to be at least somewhat improved this year.
Ha, that's the hope. Report It
Aside from the Heisman Candidate who shall remain nameless, ND football is bringing in its best recruiting class in years. The reason they got all those athletes is the same reason everyone is watching the Fighting Irish again:
Because last year Brady Quinn proved that he can play with the best of them. When compared to TEXAS and USC of last year he puts Notre Dame right up there with them. That and the fact that 80% of the same team is returning to play this season. They look like one of the teams that will be playing for the National Championship
Brady Quinn just about says it all. It should be fairly clear to any educated football fan that Notre Dame is one of the teams to beat this year. Charlie Weiss came in and turned that program around in just one season when no one expected them to finish over five hundred last year. One illegal Reggie Bush push into Leinart's back kept Notre Dame out of the national championship game. They have the entire complement of players back with the first batch of Weiss recruits and a year of succesful football under their belts. This team will be in the Top 5 all year and even witht their absurdly difficult schedule, it is hard to imagine this team coached by Weiss losing more than one game.
They play probably one of the easiest schedules for the team ever. They could easily go 10-1 and get the bid for the National Championship.
Half the fun in college football are the pre-season predictions of national titles. Notre Dame returns a lot from a formidable team last year that got robbed against Southern Cal. Say Brady Quinn all you want, but he is an excellent quarterback flourishing in Charlie Weiss' new system. Charlie Weiss is proving to be an excellent coach. Willingham brought in some talent while he was there, but could not win games. Weiss is winninng with that talent and has done an excellent job recruiting. Notre Dame is going nowhere indeed. They are staying right where they are, which is a top 10 football team.
Charlie Weiss is bringing in good recruits and is doing a good job (so far) of resurrecting Dame's rep, but the hype is just that...hype. Dame's schedule is going to be killer once more and will prevent them from having a big season. It's long past time for them to either 1. ease up on the virtual Big-10 conference schedule or 2. join a conference...either way, they can ease back from playing a "big" or a "rivalry" game every week of the season, which has to wear them down over the course of a season...case in point...the USC game last season...even Touchdown Jesus couldn't save them from heartbreak...oh, by the way, y'all need to trash those green jerseys...every time I see them wear 'em, they lose (USC, Gator Bowl, etc.)
they get more airtime since they are the "premiere" college in the US. (debatable) and they have "god" on their side too. Hey Notre Dame, stop hogging god. Let someone else have him for awhile. Greedy catholics. hahah
I think that you are dead right. I think that Notre Dame is a great school and everything, I just do not think that they are going to win. They do have a great coach in Charlie Weis, but they are going to not do as well this year as they did last. I think that Brady Quinn will be about the sixth best quarterback in college this year
Notre Dame will have a fine year but they are not going to win or even play for the National championship. Auburn will play Ohio State. Notre Dame will lose two games, Georgia Tech in the opener and USC.
Notre Dame's toughest games will be Michigan, Penn St., and USC. They have Michigan and Penn St. at Notre Dame. Why don't they get a tougher schedule. The rest of the schedule is kind of a joke. Georgia Tech-that might be a good game-, Michigan St., Purdue, Standford, UCLA (overrated big time, saw that in the bowl game last year), Navy, North Carolina, Air Force, and Army. Why are they playing the three military schools? Navy is tradition, but why the other two? So if they can win against the only 3 schools that can beat them, then they will most likely take a spot in the national championship game. But Ohio St. is way ahead of them. As we saw in the Fiesta Bowl last season.
ahhhh a fellow notre dame hater. the truth about Quinn is he is overated, and doesnt have a prayer when you put pressure on him. he cant make plays. also i think that ty willingham had the same record as wiess did his first year. i wouldnt be surprised if people understand what weiss is doing in his schemes, and come prepaired to rip it apart. much like ohio state did in the bowl game.
All you ned to know is they are overated and the people trying to convince you they are great are just hopping on the band wagon. Once the Irish tank, they will be supporting $C or some other lame team.
