Who thinks that Ohio State should be number one?

i hope no one other than ohio state fans think so. cuz if they do deserve to be number 1 then prove it. Name me some teams that Ohio State has beaten that were ranked in the top 15 or top 20. no one exactly. does anyone remember what happened to Ohio State last year when they played an SEC team like Florida. Florida had one loss that year too and still destroyed the Buckeyes. Ohio State or USF or even BC should be in the championship game. they played no one. USF beat Auburn by 3 points and Auburn just got back into the rankings 2 weeks ago. they also beat WV who didn't deserve to be #5 as u can see. and who did BC play?.......um can't think of neone but Virginia Tech this week which BC will prolly lose. I just pray and hope that Either LSU or even Oklahoma for God's sakes play Ohio State in the chamionship so Ohio State could get embarrassed again 2 years in a row in the championship game 2 years in a row.

Ok, to begin with, no, no they don't. First of all, last year was NO FLUKE. Ohio state can not win against teams such as the Gators because they are not that good. Sure, they can win the Big Ten. Whoopdee fricken doo. The Big Ten is a terrible confrence (I go to Michigan State, so this is not a subjective statement). Last year OSU put to shame most of the big ten, but when they played against a team with speen and talent, they got their asses handed to them, and righfully so. This year they are number one becuae they are currently the one whos nuts the meadia is sucking the hardest. Plain and simple. they do not deserver their ranking, and neither does USF. BC does. Without question, LSU is the best team in the nation, yea they lost to Kentucky, but hey, **** happens on any given saturday in the land of college football. I whole hartedly believe that when the dust settles after week 16 of this season, the AP and BCS polls are going to bear a stricking resemblance to week one, with the exception of about 5/7 teams including Penn State, Wisconsin, Lousiville, TCU, T Tech, Georgia and maybe a few others. If OSU does win out the season, which is possible (if they dont fall to MSU on satruday) than they will again get beat to hell most likely this time by the Tigers of Louisiana State.

I do.

Who should be?? USF an over rated team that beat WVU because Pat White got hurt?? BC who is flat out terrible??

Ohio St by default.

This talk of OSU and their OOC schedule is ridiculous. You look at every top team and they all play cupcake OOC conference schedules. OSU if anything has stepped out of that box more than anything to beef up thier OOC schedule. This year just happens to be down because Washington did not continue to be good. They were part of a home and home from back when UW was a top 10 team. They just finished two years of playing Texas. They have USC in 2008 and 2009 and after that they have already set up Oklahoma and Miami. But let's look at what the other powerhouses and OSU play in their OOC this year since OSU is the only team playing average teams while everyone else is playing top 10 teams.

USC- Idaho, Nebraska, Notre Dame Combined record 6-15

Oklahoma- N. Texas, Miami, Utah State, Tulane Combined record 6-19

LSU- La Tech, Md Tenn, Tulane, Va Tech Combined record 11-15

S Carolina- La Lafeyette, S Car St, Clem, UNC Combined record 10-16

California- Tenn, Colorado St, La Tech Combined record 6-12

WVU- W. Michigan, Marshall, Maryland, E. Carolina Combined record 11-15

Ohio State- Youngstown St, Akron, Wash, Kent St Combined record 13-15

So outside of LSU playing Va tech (who is highly over rated in my opinion) no body has played a "top" OOC opponet. USC had Nebraska and Oklahoma played Miami but like Washington those teams are not as good as expected and are not tough teams this year.

Fact is OSU has beaten every team they have played this year. Their offense doesn't struggle like everyone says they do, they average over 414 yds a game, right there with USC, Cal and LSU and their defense is tops in the nation. They have 2 senior starters on offense (FB and RT) and 1 Sr starter on defense (SLB) so this team is around to stay like it always is.

Last year was an annomily. If any doubts that 51 straight days off with no game had no affect on the outcome you do not understand football. I'm not saying they would have won but come on it was that much of a mismatch.

*******SOS UPDATE********

If I can't compare with OTHER NCAA teams what is there to compare with? Anyways just to amuse myself I did go look. OSU is 69 out of 119. Other notables: WVU 67, USF 64, BC 64, OKl 60, USC 59, S. Car 58, Florida 55

******More Update************

Yes everytime they play a good team outside of the Big 10 they get their buts kicked and lose. So it is crazy how they have 4 Bowl wins in the past 5 years including 3 Fiesta Bowl wins. Can anyone else debate with stats?

Last year was a fluke, Ohio State deserved to go the championship game and was favored easily. They won the Big Ten which was respectable last year. But this year they should not be number one, but its not their fault, its the BCS system, it needs to be tossed. Too many good teams dont get a fair shot because they play a schedule significantly harder than teams like Ohio State. Dont blame OSU for being number one and probably going to the championship game, blame the system.

Ohio,Ohio,Ohio,Ohio,Ohio is always number1 although they didn't play nobody yet......This is how life is its not fair so you will have to only hope that they lose or just wait until the last 4 game of their season......

I Think It was a Good Call GO Undefeated GO BUCKEYES.

Only Big 10 fans can justify it.

I love the people who try to justify Ohio's St. schedule and comparing them to other teams. I ask that they all look up 2007 strength of schedule in their Yahoo search engine. They will find that Ohio St.'s schedule is second to last, only in front of Hawaii. So please don't compare other teams schedules.

Yes, I do.

South Florida i simply an overrated piece of trash having a fluke season. Buckeyes have had PHENOMENAL records, stats, players, etc. for many years.

The common argument is that their schedule is soft. The simple answer to that is that it's not their fault the rest of the Big Ten sucks this season.

Ohio State has to be number 1. Sure, they haven't beat any top 10 teams, but it would be totally unfair to leave an unbeaten team out of the top slot. USC lost to an unranked team, as did Cal. Ohio State's defense is the best in the country.
As for college football in general, this has just been a crazy, crazy year. I really do not think that one team is totally dominant over everyone else.

You can't base it on last year, and no one deserves to be number one at this point. Maybe we could have tosu #2 and S. Florida #2, I'm also ok with putting S. Florida #1 even though they aren't the best team because they have the best resume at this point gamewise.

You must be another whining, crying, pissing and moaning SEC fan. Damn...is that all you guys do is *****??? OSU is number 1 by default right now and has absolutly dominated everyone they have played. The season is only half over and if they win out then YES they deserve to be number 1 because of the consistancy!! I pray we play another SEC school in the NC. The Buckeyes won't be sleeping this time. Too bad we can't play the Gators again but they are not that great this year and will not be in it. I bet UK beats them this week. Right now I believe LSU is the best team even with 1 lose but the Buckeyes have been very consistant and if they keep that up then they deserve the #1 ranking. Right now it is just too early to tell. And if you want to bring up last years schedule I believe the Buckeyes played 3 number 2 teams in one season!!! And after this year Ohio State has home/away games with USC, Oklahoma, Miami, WV.

Hey Cajun Bigmouth!!!! Why don't you get your facts straight first!!! Please tell me the 3 schools that were Div. 1-AA???? I count one!! Youngstown St.............Akron and Kent St. are in the MAC. Shows how much you know. Makes your opinion more worthless than I thought.

GO BUCKS!

anyone who thinks THEY Ohio State should be #1 hasn't watched them play this year. They didn't play anyone. NOBODY. played #23 purdue... wow we have seen how the big ten has been overrated this year( i'm a Wisconsin badger fan) and this is just another team that is overrated.

I hope that Michigan State Kills Ohio State

Who should be #1?
Fact: Ohio State is undefeated. They have lost one game since October of 2005. Name any other team who has done that, I dare you.

Fact: Their schedule is NOT 117 like that other idiot posted. According to the NCAA's own rating system the Buckeye's have the 72nd rated schedule. Not the greatest, but certainly not bad enough to claim they deserve to be lower than 1 loss teams. South Florida is the only other undefeated team with a more difficult schedule than Ohio State, any they're rated no 1 in all the computer polls. That should be good enough at this point in the season.

Fact: Ohio State's loss to Florida doesn't prove jack sh*t about whether they deserved to be there or not. The beat the #2 team in the country the last game of the regular season and had a huge layoff. Florida had a good game plan, and exploited OSU's long layoff. Play that same game in Ohio in November, and Florida's offense would've looked like a high school team.

Fact: You are just bitter because your team could not cut it at some point during this season. Face it: your team lost to the same type of cupcake team Ohio State is beating up on. The only top team to have one loss to another top team is LSU, and they've struggled in several others.

The BCS is just about playing the softest schedule possible so you can stay undefeated and make it to the title game.

There are 5 or 6 teams that would level Ohio State.

You are right P-REX, they have dominated everyone they have played. Dominated three Div1AA schools. Dominated three others with losing records. Played no one in the top 25.

THis won't be an issue much longer; they have some games coming up againt teams that actually have winning records! Even a top 25 team or two! OSU will have two losses by season's end.

Just for comparison, you mentioned LSU. They have beaten three teams ranked in the top 10, two whose only loss is to LSU. And their only loss has been to #17, who only has one loss.

And for those who beat on the SEC. They have 7 teams in the top 25.
