| IU's Terry Hoeppner will be missed. Other turnaround college football coaches? |

I;m not a Hoosier fan (heck I hated Bobby Knight). ButI was saddened to hear about the passing of Indiana Head Football Coach Terry Hoeppner. He was born and raised in Indiana and went to school in the state. I enjoyed seeing the locker room and sideline shots of him motivating his players. Had alot of appreciation for how he was turning the Hoosier program around to respectability. |

This may be somewhat of a middle ground in relation to your question (established coach, weak program), but Dick Tomey at San Jose State is doing a great job in turning around the program. Only a few years ago, the team was competitavely in a shambles and the team had possibly the lowest attendance in Division 1-A (there was in fact real concern that attendance would fall below the minimum requirements for SJSU to retain 1-A status). In 2006, Tomey's 2nd year at SJSU, the team finished with a 9-4 record, won a bowl game, and finished the season having recieved votes in the AP and Coaches polls. |

USF Will turn it around. You saw them beat West Virginia during the end of this year on the road! I could see them in a bcs bow game this year. Jim Levit i think it is, is a great coach. Matt Grothe is an excellent QB he had a big win over iowa last year they showed it on espn classic today i just got done watching it, he didnt get to take indiana to a bowl game but he did get to beat a ranked team. |
