First of all, you are correct on several of your details. Yes, Arkansas had a down season last year. Yes, Mitch Mustain is the shining star of a fairly decent recruiting class (For those who don't really follow college football, he was a top QB prospect this recruiting season). Yes, Gus Malzahn is the new Offensive Coordinator. But therein lies some of the problems.....

You play the Trojans on opening weekend. That is a tough test for a true freshman QB and a first year OC. The Trojans have perhaps the strongest LB corps in the nation, and a stout D-Line and Secondary, too. The offense will need to click and buy into Malzahn's system REALLY quickly before hosting the Men of Troy.

Now add into the mix the injury to SUPER STUD Soph. RB Darren MacFadden. That toe injury would have been stupid enough if Arkansas was playing a 1-AA patsy for the season opener. But when you are a month before the season opener, and your first opponent are the friggin Trojans, and you dislocate your toe in a fight in the parking lot of a club at 4am, you might be qualified to star in the next Dumb and Dumber movie. MacFadden should have known better!

With no Big Mac in the backfield, a rookie QB, and a rookie OC against the team that finished in the top two for three years....looks pretty bleak to me. Yes, the 'Hogs will be better this year, and a 7-5 regular season is well-within-reach, but expect an 0-1 record come September Third.

Arkansas has a decent shot to beat USC the humidity in arkansas is hard to handle especially at 745 at night california doesn't ahve humidity like this when the feels like temperature is 20 degrees hotter than the thermometer reading that tells yousomething its hot here and Mitch Mustain is not #1 in nation but he was the #1 qb recruit Gatorade High School player of the year but i tell what Damian Williams is the man to look forward too. well i love the hogs also im from arkansas too and sports illustrated had him on the cover as "the # 1 quarterback" so i think we gotta good shot this year we have alot of starters (19) but we have a kick *** trio of qbs!! peytons looking good hes lost weight looks ready and i think malzann will help our game alot!!! i cant wait september 2 baby!!!! Not very good. As for the others questioning Mustain, he was the #1 rated QB coming out of HS last year and will be playing for Arkansas, but won't be a factor in this game.
