Wasn't USC's team touted at the beginning of the season as possibly one of the best in history?

I believe I remember reading or hearing that, so what happened? I am sure I read in the Answers section how USC was the most talented and had more depth and was unbeatable this year.

HE HE HE I am enjoying not hearing all the "fight on" crap.

Nothing happened, USC was finally exposed as over-hyped. Good teams can lose games, but good teams can't lose to Stanford.

yes sc was over rated they were lucky vs washington a team ohio st beat by 19 ....anything thing can happen like app st wasn't suppose to beat mich that was the upset of the year.. Report It

Yeah, but only those living in southern california believed it. (with the exception of those guys on the westside of LA - Bruin fans)

OK, one more caveat : ESPN analysts were on their nuts too.

That's the media hyping up their little darlings for ya. The media and ESPN can't get their lips off of USC's ***.

Cry on!

Even Stanford's coach said before the game that they were possibly the greatest college football team ever. I really don't like USC, but I gained some respect for Pete Carrol. He took the loss like a man, didn't try to make any excuses after the game an owned up to not being the best team on the field for that game. On a personal note, OU is right back in the National Title picture now.

They were. Right now, I dont even think they are in the top 10. But I wouldnt count them out of the national championship picture just yet. If they win the rest of the games this season they will probably go back to the national championship game, and they will go down as one of the best teams in college football with an asterisk behind it.

It is ok we still got Cal!!~ Now I know who to root for during the USC/Cal game

USC has been one of the most over rated teams in college football for some time now. They do not have a tough schedule yet they always get high rankings. But until there is a better system set up for the BCS it will continue to happen. The BCS needs to be setup for playoffs like nearly every other sport. Plus that gives us more Football!!! But i really think LSU and Ohio State are the teams to beat. Know everyone is gonna harp on this but the SEC really does have a tough schedule.
If USC were to play in the SEC who could honestly say they could win as many games as they do now? Only an ESPN or other lame broadcaster would make that idiotic comment. Speaking of which didnt one of them eat words today? lol !!! Know i got off subject USC shouldnt have a title chance this year wether it fnishes out with losing another game. They have been exposed for what they were... OVERATED!!!

You must have heard that from Austin N,some fans get carried away, now they can change it to,the greatest upset in college football history, the only way this upset can be topped this year is if Notre Dame beats USC

Yeah, im a USC fan. Booty is not a Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart. The Trojans are on a downfall, Cal is now the team to beat in the Pac-10.

They are possibly one of the best teams in the history of associated press reporters abusing crack cocaine.

However, USC is not out of the national championship race. ESPN, the AP, Sporting News, etc can still possibly put them back in contention with some big-market love. In 2003 USC had one loss, mid season, to an academic university that was not expected to contend. LSU had one loss to Florida. Both teams played bowl choke artists in Oklahoma and Michigan. Then the AP decided that losing to Florida was worse than losing to Cal, which at that time was not a very good program, and gave a split championship to USC. Well, they can do it again. If USC runs the table and LSU loses one game to a respectable foe in the SEC championship or before, LSU could beat choke artist Ohio State, USC could beat choke artist Oklahoma, and the media could crown USC its champion, ignoring that embarressing defeat by a team of nerds with glasses.

The media believes USC was better than LSU in 2003. They believed an undefeated Auburn didn't deserve a chance to compete for the national championship in 2004 because USC and Choklahoma were so clearly great. They thought USC would beat Texas in 2005. In 2006 they were sure Ohio State would crush Florida and thought Notre Dame would give LSU a run for it's money with sure #1 overall pick Brady Quinn at the helm and his midas touch that only the USC juggernaut could stop.

Now it is time to revise history. LSU was true national champion in 2003. Auburn deserves a share of the 2004 championship and would probably have beat USC. USC's main accomplishment during their 'dynasty' was beating the two biggest bowl game choke jobs in the universe: Michigan and Oklahoma. Beyond that they just beat up on overrated Notre Dame teams in real nail biter games. Choke jobs like Ohio State and Oklahoma should be kept out of the national championship if at all possible. Give teams like Cal a chance. Hyping the same teams that let fans down over and over is a waste of time. If it's hard to argue which of several teams is better, leave out the team that lost to the worst opponent or blew it in last years big game that they should have won.

Only so many people believe that. The top 10 without them is not lost for talent.
