Never attribute a win to luck. UCLA won because they played better football that day.

i'm a bruin and think it was the glitter/light show that made us win...lol

College football is all about matchups - while one team may blow out another team, they could lose to a team with a worse record that matches up better against their style of play. Oregon State knocked off USC, and Boise State massacred Oregon State, and you don't see Boise State playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl...strange.

It took a little bit of faith because no one beleived in UCLA and they won so it was neither

USC played like UUUH nevermind. Ucla played UUH good football

Even though USC has a better team on paper, any team can win on any given day. This is why upsets aren't so surprising to me. Every team has good days, and every team has bad days. So I guess it was a combo of the two.

Luck of course. USC had already been softened up by the Giant Killers at OSU.

there is no such thing as luck. UCLA's d-ends were too fast and matched up great against the tackles of USC. Usc also killed itself with a lot of penalties on offense while their defense gave up just 13 points and earned 2

It was NOT luck! ~ The Trojans underestimated us. They came to the Rose Bowl thinking that we were "some-pathetic-unranked-team" but we gave them a lesson. We played a better game, we stopped their offense, and we fought their defense. We did our homework. The guys worked hard for the victory, it wasn't luck.

im a trojan fan.....and here is y UCLA won...usc came off of 3 big games in a row oregon, cal, and notre dame....they were emotionally drained and ucla came off of 2 weeks off...usc was tired

UCLA was the better team that day. Luck isnt a factor in football so much, they may get a lucky bounce here or there but the better prepared team usually wins. The Bruins executed their gameplan better than the Trojans and the final score indicated as much. Regardless of other factors that people love to bring up the Bruins were better that particular saturday not luckier!

It was skill and good coaching and preparation. For UCLA, that was their REAL bowl game, trying to take down their crosstown rivals from USC from winning and going to the BCS Title Game.
