| Why is USC always ranked #1 in pre-season polls? |

I feel that's an unfair advantage that USC always has! |

USC plays in the PAC 10. The teams in the PAC 10 aint worth a damn. Because the other teams aint worth a damn, USC always has a good record. |

Do I really hav to tell u. I mean look at there last 5 years there always national championship contenders. Another reason look at there talent . I mean come on!!!! because they always have the most talent, and deepest roster... simple as that the reason is because they pay the people that do the polls Same reason the University of Michigan is always high in the pre season polls, tradition and past experience. Look what it did for Boo of M! I think it is more of a disadvantage than an advantage. They have to try to live up to that hype. It is unfair to rank a team without any wins, look at how overrated OSU was last year. When they played a team from a competitive conference, they went down like a house of cards. Same goes for Notre Dame. Couldn't be the fact that they've lost only 6 games in the past five years, or that they've finished each of those five years no lower than 4th in the final polls, or that they usually have one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the country, or that they returned most of their starters on defense from last year. Simple. Money talks. Because USC is awesome! I really does not matter. Just where you are at the end of the season. I completely agree with you, although I think it's not only an unfair advantage that USC was ranked #1, but I think it's unfair to every other team as well. Preseason ranking are no more than the pollsters guessing who they think will have a good team the upcoming year. It's more of a popularity contest than any actual ranking system. They are almost always up there because they usually have a great team It's funny how soon people forget. I see alot of use of the word "always" here. I remember before around 5 years ago USC was off the map for about about 20 years. They always rank high in the recruiting class and are judged on returning starters, but I dont really think they should shoot to the top of the pack so easy.. What was there last Big win? Michigan. We see how they are doing now.. They are a top 5 team, but not #1 Because they never play anyone to lose to and ESPN loves John David Booty. I believe LSU should be no. 1 They won't be ranked #1 next week after the Huskers beat them on Saturday. Go Big Red!!! They are out there in Tinseltown, and the pollsters get caught up in all the media hype that follows USC all season. I guess that writers from "Tiger Beat" and all the other teen girl magazines are part of the AP poll. They are busy following USC's quarterback, whoever it is that season, and are too enamored with him to notice who the nation's best teams are. It is a simpal concept: The team always gets the best recruits, but that is always the difference, also, they always have the best team, but can't win the big game. In my opinion national champions should always be ranked 1, where is my best answer? |
