Harbaugh played for Bo Schembechler. Bo used to make every opponent out to be the best team in the country. Jim learned well. Behind closed doors I guarantee that hes telling his team the only game that matters is that USC game. Thats the one where they can do something to make people have to notice them. Its a 40 year old coaches trick.

I would cut my tongue off if I ever uttered USC is the best team. Thats just ignorant of college football. They only became great in the late 70s to present. Talk about teams that have been dominant since the 30s even the 20s.

They are as good as it gets. But my money for absolute best would be that Nebraska team that beat Florida or the Univ. of Washington team in 92' or 93' that won the national championship. Those are the 2 best I've seen.

Dude, the only reason USC keeps winning the PAC10 is because it's a shitty as hell conference. They're the only decent team in there. If they played in a real conference like the SEC, BIG 10, Big 12, ect. they would not be #1 every year. USC is a decent team in a horrible conference. That certainly doesn't make them #1 in the history of college football. If they played in the SEC and won every year, then maybe you would have an argument. However, as it stands, I cannot tolerate USC. I HATE that team because they are sooooo OVERRATED. That's like Ohio State or Michigan playing an entire conference full of Indianas and Illinois and then claiming we were the best. Give me a break.

I agree that USC is a very good team, but this team has not won a game yet. I do not agree with the best team ever, as it is unfair to say that since there is no way they can go head to head. It can only be done via stats and emotions. Having said this I believe the 1972 USC along with the 1974 Ohio State teams may have been the two best ever. Not far behind is the 1970 Nebraska and 1993 Alabama teams.

Well now isn't that special why don't we just not play this season as JUST hand over the BCS trophy to Men of Troy? I don't agree. They have been fantastic in recent years, but Notre Dame & Michigan still top the all time rankings.

For one, The season, much less game 1 of it, has yet to be played, so don't go annointing "best team in history" stuff to anyone. Second, when USC can get through a season undefeated and beat 4 top ten teams('95 NU, including a 63-24 nat'l champ game against #2 Florida), or the #2, 3 and 4 teams in the country ('71 NU), maybe then they can lay some claim to the "best team in history." Until then, yes, they are impressive, I don't know many who would want to play them this year, but we'll see how they do. They didn't do so well when this mantra was placed on them two years before their loss to Texas.
