Academically, what is the best Conference? (excluding the Ivy League)?

I would have to go with the ACC, and then the Pac-10.

Virginia
Duke
UNC
Wake Forest
Georgia Tech

who cares lets play some football

Patriot

you have to know it's the Big 12 if you look at how much further the players go on to the NFL

who cares it is about the sports and making money, if I wanted to cheer for academics I would watch chemistry.

Why exclude the Ivy League?
I remember hearing Howard Cosell, many years ago, announce an upcoming game :

"Next Saturday we will show Harvard versus Yale...a game in which actual students will be playing!"

So true...

I don't know man...PAC-10 has Stanford, Washington, USC, Cal...Even Wazzu and Arizona/ASU are starting to be better acedemic schools.

Tough call between PAC-10 and ACC though...Yeah, really, really tough call...

I thnk you're right though, probably the ACC followed by the PAC-10. Close though.

I noticed that you didn't mention the ACC thug schools like Miami, Va. Tech, and Florida State, or the lesser scholastic ones like Clemson. I would say that the Pac-10, Big-10, and Big-12 are all tied for the top because none of them have a bad school. The rest of the conferences are much less.

SEC

Vanderbilt, Alabama produces the second most road scholars only behind Harvard.
